In 1877, Michigan Humane was established to protect humans and animals
against cruelty and abuse. Over 150 years, we have endured two world wars,
a great depression and two global pandemics, all the while, protecting our
communities’ most vulnerable. Through it all, our mission and our passion
remain focused on saving lives through compassionate care, community
engagement and advocacy for animals.
Today, Michigan Humane’s programs and services directly impact more than
100,000 animals and families in our shelters, in our veterinary clinics
and throughout our communities.
Even with all the good that exists, cruelty, neglect, and poverty still remain. Forever Humane is a $50 million endowment campaign envisioned to ensure that Michigan Humane is entrusted to care for animals in crisis and support the human-animal bond in perpetuity.
The act of advocating for animals provides a voice for the voiceless through care, love, safety and a second chance.
