Michigan Humane is all in on adoption this month. With the upcoming two-week closure of our Detroit location, you can help by opening your home to a new best friend. See below for more information about four upcoming adoption events and promotions, including a 50% discount on all animals at all locations.

  1. 50% off All Animals at All Location

On November 2nd, 2026, the Dresner Foundation Animal Care Campus in Detroit, which includes the Mackey Center for Animal Care and the Grosfeld Urgent Care Clinic, will be closed for a period of two weeks as we replace the building’s heating and cooling units. During this time, no animals or people will be allowed on the premises. In anticipation of this closure, Michigan Humane has teamed up with our official adoption partner, Mike Morse Law Firm, to offer half-off all adoptions at all locations for the rest of October. Call (866)-MHUMANE, visit our website at https://michiganhumane.org/adopt/, or stop by a Michigan Humane adoption center for more information.

  1. PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week

National Adoption Week is a PetSmart Charities–led initiative that brings together PetSmart stores and local animal rescues to help animals find their forever homes. Starting October 19th, Michigan Humane is teaming up with PetSmart Charities to provide even more adoptable cats and kittens at their Roseville location. All animals are microchipped, spayed or neutered, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to going home. And thanks to Mike Morse Law Firm, these cats and kittens are 50 percent off! Call (866)-MHUMANE or stop by the Roseville PetSmart for more information.

  1. Subaru Loves Pets Month

Each October, Subaru of America and Fox Subaru Macomb join forces with the ASPCA to provide direct funding and support veterinary care for shelter animals. The initiative places special emphasis on “Underdogs” — senior, disabled, or otherwise unique dogs and cats who often wait the longest for adoption. In fact, Subaru celebrates National Make a Dogs’ Day on October 22nd to encourage fostering, adopting, or otherwise supporting said Underdogs in shelters. You can find more information about Subaru Loves Pets month, ways to participate, and adoption events near you at this link: Subaru Loves Pets | Subaru of America.

  1. Paws, Pride, and Patriots Adoption Event

On Monday, November 9th, Michigan Humane will be hosting a small same-day adoption event from 4pm to 7pm at the Fox Subaru in Macomb. There will be nearly twenty cats, kittens, and puppies available for adoption; adoptions will happen on a first-come, first-serve basis. In honor of Veterans’ Day on November 11th, adoption fees will be completely waived for veterans and active-duty service members. All animals are microchipped, spayed or neutered, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to going home. You don’t have to be a member of the Armed Forces to adopt at this event. All active-duty and veteran service members must provide a valid form of DoD ID prior to adoption. Call (866)-MHUMANE or visit the Michigan Humane event page for more information about this upcoming event.
